Since 1982, Jon has been exclusively involved in resolving the environmental problems of real estate developers, landowners, lenders, manufacturers, mining companies and others under federal, state and local environmental programs.

He has handled the environmental aspects of over 150 large commercial, industrial and residential real estate developments located throughout the United States. This work includes resolving problems related to property acquisition, financing and sale, contamination, wetlands, endangered species, human health, archaeological and historic resources, agency requirements, and environmental insurance.

Jon also has significant experience counseling and defending clients in environmental enforcement actions at the federal, state and local levels, and has testified as an environmental law expert. He is admitted to practice in the state and federal courts in California and Arizona, the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals and the United States Supreme Court.

From 1982 through 1989, he was an Enforcement Counsel for the U.S. EPA and an Assistant Attorney General with the State of Arizona. He is the author of a number of professional articles regarding environmental law topics and is a regular speaker at professional environmental conferences.

Jon was recognized in American Lawyer’s The San Francisco Recorder in November 2003 as the San Francisco Bay Area’s “go to” lawyer for contaminated property redevelopments. He was also recognized in the 2003 edition of Outstanding Lawyers of America listing, in the 2000 edition of Who’s Who in American Law, and as an AV-rated (highest) attorney by Martindale-Hubbell. He was a member of the State Bar of California Environmental law Section Executive Committee, 2001-04, and Chair of the San Francisco Bar Association’s Environmental Law Section in 1999 and 2000.
